Pre-operational Checks

This task requires you to conduct a pre-operation safety check on the forklift.

This check is to ensure that there are no faults or damage to the forklift which may make it unsafe to operate.

The extent of the checks will be determined by your company policy and any OH&S regulations.

Your company may require you to complete a checklist to satisfy workplace policies and regulations before using the equipment.

Instructions

  • Print the forklift pre-operational checklist by selecting the print button.

  • Once you have printed the pre-operational checklist click the next button or return to this page and click the begin button.
  • Follow the on screen instructions.

  • Complete the checklist with either a tick or a cross to indicate your findings.

  • Use the checklist to guide you through the checking procedure making sure that all items are checked.

  • You may save the checklist to a disk, either local or A: drive, by clicking the "Save to disk" button at the bottom of the checklist screen. You may then open the document and fill it in, save the completed form and attach it to an email to your supervisor.

Load Limits

This task requires you to calculate the acceptable load limit for the forklift using the load centre, load weight and load chart.

Instructions

  • Print a copy of these instructions and a load chart by selecting the print button.
  • Start the task by rolling your mouse over each pallet to reveal their load centres and weights.

  • Use the load chart to see if the load falls inside or outside the SAFE LOAD AREA.

  • Click on your load choice to run the simulation.

  • Results will be displayed at conclusion of simulation.

Pick Up, Move and a Stack Pallet

This task requires you to simulate picking up, moving and stacking a pallet.

This check is to ensure that you are familiar with the procedures required to pickup a pallet and move it to a rack where it will be stored.

We have included an up ramp and a down ramp to make the task more challenging.

All movements are controlled via the simulated forklift control panel.

  • Print a copy of these instructions by selecting the print button.
  • Use the forklift control panel to simulate the steps required to pickup, move and stack the pallet.

  • Active components of the control panel are:

    • start button
    • lift/lower lever
    • forward/back tilt lever
    • handbrake
    • throttle (move pedal)
    • steering wheel.

     

  • The simulation cannot be completed unless it is performed in the correct order.
